Aurora’s father, The (late) King of the northern isles .The best king that the northern isles had seen- he was known to bring the isles in to a golden age of reformation and success. Known to be a kind, free-spirited, and well respected monarch.Fathering only one heir to his throne; aurora became his pride and joy. He would teach aurora everything she knew about court from a very young age. He was everything aurora wished to become when she became queen.However, King William Was suffering from a great illness and kept it secret from everyone. The only person who knew was his court physician- he did not want to worry his family or make the kingdom think he was weak.This would be the downfall in him as he would fall severely ill sooner than expected and prematurely die, leaving the throne to aurora when she was only sixteen years old.Faceclaim : tom hiddleston

Aurora’s mother, The widowed queen dowager of the northern isles .Born as a highborn lady to one of the richest families of Scotland. Relative to Queen Elinor of Dunbroch.Very ambitious, cut throat, and power hungry since she had to marry in (basically claw her way in) to the royal family rather than being born in to it.A very controlling mother with a really complex relationship with aurora. She only wants the best for her daughter, being a woman in court is hard and feels her daughter’s impulsiveness will get her killed. Aurora feels as though the only thing her mother wants is power and control, actively rebelling against her growing up. Queen Catriona only wants the best for her daughter but expresses it very roughly.when the kingdom was thrust upon aurora at a young age, queen dowager catriona stepped in to advise and ruled the northern isles while aurora was still learning and seeking refuge in the southern isles.Faceclaim : Michelle fairley

Prince James sjoerd westergaard

“ kill them all ! ”Aurora and caleb’s firstborn son, the crown prince and heir to the throne. Future king of the northern and southern isles.james is the darker child of the family. he is a true cold blooded westergaard and grew to be king sjoerd’s favorite, embodying the ‘take what you want’ and ‘kill or be killed’ mentality. Seen to be ambitious, power hungry, and cutthroat. The pressure of ruling the northern and southern isles, also expecting to marry in to ruling a third kingdom made him obsessed with the idea of taking power.Prince James wants to rule the kingdoms with fear when he inherits the throne. Although he has not necessarily shown violence in court, he makes his prowess shown fiercely and clearly in the battlefield.James has shown a lot of inner conflict within what kind of leader he wants to be- he was taught by grandfather sjoerd to reign with fear but knows his parents went through a reformation in their rule themselves; struggling to find a balance of what true power is.although james may seem like he just wants power, he just wants to be prepared for when he does take the throne and wants to make the kingdom view him as his own ruler — not just a spawn of king caleb and queen aurora.Pronouns : he/him

Prince willem alexander westergaard

Aurora and Caleb’s second born son. The golden prince.prince willem gets a little more freedom than his brother as he is not expected to be next in line but— anything can happen. Willem sees himself as just another backup option incase anything happens to james, just the second best son. Willem wants to be more than just second best , second in line, second choice. Although he always feels like he’s being overshadowed by his brother, he makes it up by being the charismatic and charming child of the family. Seen to be a mini version of a young prince Caleb- brave, generous, and very free spirited but also impulsive and quite reckless sometimes. he seeks for approval of the kingdom as a whole and doesn’t like how power hungry james has gotten. he’s your stereotypical prince charming, always there to save the day and always charming the people who come to court.although he may seem like your stereotypical prince charming, he does have sort of a mischievous side to him. he loves messing around with his siblings and some of the ladies at court. he’s basically the royal court’s heartthrob as he tries to charm every lady at court even though he knows he can’t fully commit to anyone until they find a good match for him because political alliances at court are still a very serious thing. Willem hopes to one day be viewed with the same respect as people have for his father.Pronouns : he/him

Princex junia margot westergaard

Aurora and caleb’s youngest child. The ordinary royal.Being the youngest- junia, who prefers to go by june most days, had already so many expectations pushed upon them. However, June saw and grew up with her siblings; not knowing life without them and knew it was impossible to try to live up or replicate the kind of reputation their siblings had already built. She doesn’t try to put on a show or try to gain political alliances — nor do they try to charm the crowd or try to do anything for the crown. she thinks of themself as just “ordinary.” they were not destined to do anything extreme like the rest of her family- june just doesn’t think she’s good enough to amount to any greatness of that sort.With that, it comes with a sort of freedom- it allows june to have extra time to explore the activities that genuinely bring them joy (partially to distract them from the inner sadness of feeling like the last pick / forgotten westergaard child). Junia really excels in the arts, having exceptional ability in violin and visual arts. A very imaginative and logical sort- she has become a sort of inventor; using her unlimited creative resources to further creative ambition. Although her siblings and other royals often dismiss and brush off her abilities.June shows a very dry and witty sort of personality- being very creative, resourceful, strong willed, and innovative. She is a very stubborn and quick thinker, often being very quick to sass back others no matter how rude or inappropriate the time.Pronouns : they/she (nonbinary but fluctuates between titles princess and princex. Princess amelie catriona westergaard

amélie is the third child and first daughter of queen aurora and king caleb. The perfect princess.A perfect picture of a perfect princess (or what she has hoped is the image she created for herself)— taking after her mother’s side of the family; amelie is curious, lively, elegant, and adventurous. Having a very stereotypical princess desire of wanting adventure and to write her own story— she fears a fate where she will only be known as the daughter to two of the greatest monarchs or as the younger sister to james and willem. She is a poised and generous perfectionist, who is always trying to seek approval from her parents and is constantly cleaning up her brothers’ mistakes.During the time of her birth and early childhood- amelie was one of the only westergaard girls at court; this made her have a really strong connection to her mother. She felt as though her mother was one of the only people to truly see her. Amelie puts a lot of pressure on herself to uphold the royal legacy as she does not want to disappoint her kingdom and family.although she may seem like just your average perfect poised princess, she will not hesitate to bite back if you try her or do/say something against her beliefs. she’s strong, and willing to fight for anything she believes in — just like her mother.Pronouns : she/her
